Meet Noah our amazing little fundraiser!
He may be our youngest ever fundraiser but it hasn’t stopped six year old Noah McDonald from raising over £500 to help our scientists around the world find the answers to cancer.
With help from his mum, Helen, who is Worldwide Cancer Research’s Supporter Services Team Leader, Noah has held a bake sale, set up a JustGiving page, asked all his friends and family for support and taken part in the St Andrew’s Chariots of Fire children’s fun run.
Noah lives with his mum and dad in Elie and it was a walk on Elie beach that sparked Noah’s idea to fundraise for the charity where his mum has worked for the last nine years.
“It all came about one Sunday afternoon when we were out for a walk on the beach,” explained Helen.
“Noah suddenly came out with ‘mummy I want to do the beach race for your work to help the scientists find a cure for cancer’.
“So, we set his fundraising target at £150 which we thought would be an amazing achievement for his first attempt at fundraising for a charity.
“Noah helped me bake cakes to sell to friends and people at work and he really put his heart into letting everyone know about his JustGiving page. The amount he has received in sponsorship is completely overwhelming and I am so proud of him.”
It’s fair to say, everyone at Worldwide Cancer Research is thrilled with Noah’s fundraising efforts; "I’m sure there’s a great career in fundraising ahead for Noah,” said Chief Executive Norman Barrett.
