Editions Financial trek to success and raise staggering amount for Worldwide Cancer Research

Employees at Editions Financial, a content marketing agency based in Edinburgh, have raised a fantastic £6,360.50 for Worldwide Cancer Research to allow the charity to continue funding and discovering pioneering research projects.

Ten staff members across the organisation teamed up to take on TrekFest – a 50km walk through the night in the Peak District. Not only did the team all complete the challenge, two members even ran the whole route which is an achievement in itself!

The team originally set a fundraising target of £5,000 and have far exceeded this thanks to their determination and devotion to Worldwide Cancer Research.

Since 1979 the charity has invested over £183 million directly into cancer research and funded 1,817 projects for 1,120 researchers in 34 countries.

Only resting their sore feet for a moment, the team at Editions Financial were off fundraising again at a ceilidh and auction evening they organised for clients, family and friends.

Using the agency’s budding talents, staff member Jamie Graham also took on a unique fundraising challenge, writing 24 stories in 24 hours. He only found out the subject for the story seconds before he wrote each one and has since raised an impressive £600 with more to come.

Rowan Morrison, Managing Director at Editions Financial, said: “We are thrilled at how much we have raised for Worldwide Cancer Research and would like to thank everyone who took part in the challenge, attended the ceilidh and donated to our fundraising total.

“I am so proud of the team for giving such a huge amount of their time and dedication to support a charity close to all of our hearts. We have followed its contribution to cancer research over the years, and understand the importance of funding science in order to develop better outcomes for patients in the years to come.”

Worldwide Cancer Research relies on public donations - without this dedication and support from our generous supporters, like the staff at Editions Financial, the pioneering projects we fund and discover would simply not happen. Leading IP firm raise £2,607 for Worldwide Cancer Research after completing tough 2,000km cycle challenge

Leading intellectual property firm, Haseltine Lake, has raised an impressive £2,607 following the team taking part in a tough 2,000km static cycle challenge, ‘Tour de Haseltine Lake’, in a bid to raise money for the firm’s corporate charity partner, Worldwide Cancer Research.

Haseltine Lake’s team of 78 riders cycled an incredible 1,971 kilometres on a virtual journey between the firm’s offices. The challenge started in Munich and finished in Glasgow, via London and Bristol. Thanks to their brilliant efforts the team "arrived" in Glasgow following just over 10 days (during working hours) of cycling, smashing the best estimate of how long the Tour would take.

Chief Executive at Haseltine Lake, Lesley Evans commented on the sponsored cycle: “We are incredibly proud of all the team for raising an impressive £2,607 for our corporate charity partner Worldwide Cancer Research. Not only would we like to congratulate all our riders, we would also like to give special thanks to everyone who has given such strong support whether cheering on colleagues from the side-lines, dipping into their pockets for Worldwide Cancer Research or encouraging others to support our team.”

Chief Executive of Worldwide Cancer Research, Dr Helen Rippon, said: “On behalf of Worldwide Cancer Research, I’d like to give my sincere thanks to everyone at Haseltine Lake who has dedicated a huge amount of time and effort to this fantastic challenge. The amount raised will allow us to continue fighting cancer using ground breaking science, now and in the future.

“Since 1979, Worldwide Cancer Research has invested almost £199m directly into cancer research and funded 1,808 projects for 1,120 researchers in 34 countries. This is all thanks to the generosity of supporters like Haseltine Lake. Without this dedication and support, the pioneering projects we fund and discover simply would not happen, and for that we are truly grateful to everyone who has supported this unique fundraising challenge.”

Since the announcement of Haseltine Lake’s partnership with Worldwide Caner Research in April this year, the firm has already raised an impressive £10,922 through an exciting range of various fundraising activities such as BBQs, bake sales, book and DVD sales, yoga classes and raffles.
