That’s why we’ve launched the Chain of Hope Appeal. This Christmas, with your help, we want to do all we can to prevent, diagnose and stop cancer sooner. Every donation to this appeal will give hope to another family fighting cancer.
Earlier this year, James, who was diagnosed with neck cancer in 2012, was told to prepare himself for the worst. After three surgeries, radiotherapy and chemotherapy, there were no other options – his treatment was no longer keeping him alive. James was going to die.
He faced his terminal diagnosis with bravery, strength – and most importantly – hope.
After searching online for help, James found Dr John Maher. John instantly wanted to help and introduced James to a new immunotherapy clinical trial – funded by Worldwide Cancer Research supporters. It soon put him back on the road to recovery. It saved his life. This was the hope they had been searching for.
James had been at rock bottom, desperate, frustrated and very, very ill. But not once did he give up hope. And that’s because he was surrounded by people, his people, people who saved his life. People like you, who came together to give hope by donating to fund cancer research.
“I lived in fear that every day could be our last together… We’ve been given the gift of more time. Now we treat every day as if it is as special as Christmas Day.” – Tatiana.
Every year, 163,000 people die from cancer in the UK. That means there will be 163,000 empty seats around the Christmas table this year. Please donate online now to help more people like James survive.
When you donate, you can also send a message that will join our big paper Chain of Hope. It will form a beautiful public display at our Christmas event and we'll share photos online.
