5 marathons down, 2 to go
On 26th July Paul Webb finished the Rio de Janeiro marathon in 33rd place overall and 2nd in his category with a new PB of 2:51:42. Paul has now run a marathon on 5 of the 7 continents of his challenge having taken part in the London Marathon, NYC Marathon, the Marathon des Sables and the Great Wall of China Marathon. Reflecting on his recent achievement Paul said ‘I only decided to travel to Brazil 5 days before the race after realising I could get there using air miles. It was hot and the humidity was 90% making things especially difficult so I’m delighted with the result. It could not have been better. The course was quite flat with the final stretches taking you along the famous and beautiful Ipanema and Copacabana beaches.’ Next up for Paul is the Great North Run followed two weeks later by the Berlin Marathon at the end of September. You can help to support Paul’s cause by voting for him in this year’s Mountain Warehouse Charity Challenge. This is an annual competition with the winner, determined by the number of public votes, receiving £10,000 for their chosen charity. Paul has made it through to the top 10 - please get behind him and vote!
