Drug resistance in ovarian cancer

We currently have a number of ovarian cancer projects which you can search through here on our interactive world map. Each of these projects has the ultimate aim of improving the lives of women with ovarian cancer.  This is extremely important since many women are not diagnosed with until it is quite advanced and has often already spread, making successful treatment much more difficult.  Survival rates are therefore lower than for many other cancer types which is why research is so vital.

And the research is already paying off. Professor David Bowtell, Head of the Cancer Genomics Program at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, Melbourne, Australia has used Worldwide Cancer Research funding to discover genetic changes that can allow ovarian tumours to escape treatment. Read more about his findings on our blog.
