Have you ever wondered what researchers do to unwind after a busy week in the lab or what motivates them to seek new cancer cures?
Dr Elena De Vita s motivated by the search for new ways to stop breast cancer spreading. Elena is based in Professor Edward Tate’s research group at Imperial College London, exploring an innovative way to stop this spread, because this will hopefully lead to new ways to treat patients. In this short film you can find out all about Elena, her passion for science and what she does to relax.

When I heard that our research was granted funding from Worldwide Cancer Research it was an amazing day really, because it meant that all our studies could continue and we are now at a really major breakthrough.

What do we still not know about breast cancer?
Breast cancer is the second most common cancer in the world. We all have breast tissue, so it can affect anybody, but it is most common in women. Thanks to research, more people are surviving breast cancer than ever before, but it is still the leading cause of cancer death in under 50s and there are still far too many lives being cut short by the disease. Our researchers are asking the challenging questions that need answers to start new cures for breast cancer and help save lives, everywhere. Find out more.
