We understand these are uncertain and troubling times and we know many charities across the world are facing increasing challenges in supporting their beneficiaries.
At Worldwide Cancer Research, with every penny you give, we make a promise to you. We will look after your generous donation ensuring bold new research projects that you support are still starting cures to cancer.
In this unusual time, we promise to do our absolute best to keep things running as normally as possible.
Following the latest UK government guidance, our staff are all working from their homes and our plan is to continue to deliver our services to applicants, grant holders and institutions across the UK and around the world.
However, we are monitoring the COVID-19 situation closely and will notify researchers if there are any further changes to deadlines or processes.
We do need to be realistic however and appreciate that some of the new projects that were due to kick off in the next few months will delay their start dates. We may also need to allow some researchers to suspend their research if there is a prolonged shutdown in their country and offer extensions to their grants to allow them to complete their proposed research. It is important that we provide as much support and understanding to these people as possible.
This is an unfamiliar situation and it is important we are honest here; it is inevitable that we will get things wrong. Please bear with us if we do, let us know, and we will be as helpful and as flexible as possible as the situation unfolds.
Researchers, please know we are here for you.
Given the current situation, we will work with all our stakeholders to understand better how we can give further support during this time and we will regularly communicate with our worldwide family as the situation develops.
We will get through this together.
Take care,
Dr Lynn Turner, Director of Research, Worldwide Cancer Research
